Sportster tank surgery pt. 2: creating the "tall boy"

After I finished narrowing and shaping the shell it was time to put it on stilts, I started by mocking it up in cardboard to see exactly how much to add.
1 7/8" more up front and about 1/4" less in the rear seemed to be the ticket so I transferred the template to 18ga and fired up the TIG.
With that hammer welded and sanded back, the next step was to weld in the rad orange acrylic gas cap bung from ACME choppers. Stay tuned, the next step will be building the tunnel and tank bottom and installing the petcock bung
